Vintage cast brass fisherman / sailor decorative tray or wall plaque featuring a wonderfully detailed nautical scene.
The raised relief design depicts a bearded fisherman smoking a pipe and wearing a traditional seafaring hat, surrounded by waves, a fishing net with fish, and sailboats on the water. The irregular organic border and openwork details give the piece a particularly sculptural appearance.
Measures approximately 6” x 4”. Unmarked as far as I can tell.
Purchased in an antique market in The Netherlands.
This piece can be displayed as a small decorative tray, vide poche/catchall, or hung as nautical wall decor. It has developed an attractive aged brass patina with oxidation, surface wear and discoloration consistent with vintage age. Please review photos closely for condition.
