Antique Furniture Mounts, Ormolu and Brass Appliques

Antique furniture mounts are the cast metal ornaments once fixed to dressers, commodes and cabinets. Ours include cast brass, bronze and gilt metal furniture appliques in French Rococo, Louis XV and Louis XVI styles, from acanthus leaf ormolu to laurel wreaths, bows, roses, fruit baskets and female face mounts.

What Is Ormolu?

Ormolu traditionally refers to finely cast bronze finished in gold, used on French furniture from the 18th century onward. Today the term is also used broadly for gilt brass mounts. We describe the metal and finish of every piece as accurately as we can.

Uses for Brass Furniture Mounts

Restorers use antique furniture hardware to replace missing mounts on period pieces. Furniture flippers use rococo appliques to dress up a painted dresser or cabinet. Many buyers also hang a single mount or a set as small wall art, alongside pieces from our vintage wall decor.

Sizes and Sets

Measurements are listed on every piece, and many are sold as pairs or sets of three or four. Check sizing against your furniture before buying, since period mounts were cast for specific pieces.

How do I attach an antique furniture mount?

Most mounts attach with small pins, nails or screws through existing holes. Measure the mount and your furniture first, and use brass pins or screws so you do not damage the mount or wood.
