Antique Art, Paintings & Portrait Miniatures
Antique Paintings and Portrait Miniatures
Our antique paintings and portrait miniatures are original works with history: signed 19th century portrait miniatures, small vintage oil paintings, framed ceramic tiles and collectible prints, plus antique picture frames and vanity mirrors to finish a gallery wall or dressing table.
Antique Portrait Miniatures
Portrait miniatures are small, finely painted portraits that were traditionally given as keepsakes before photography. Our signed examples include European ladies in gilt and ornate frames, a portrait after Nattier of Madame Sophie of France, and a Belle Époque gilt bronze jewelry box set with a miniature. Each listing includes size, frame details and any signature.
Vintage Oil Paintings and Framed Art
Small vintage oil paintings, such as Dutch landscapes and mid century portraits, bring real brushwork to a small wall or bookshelf. Framed tiles and prints add color to a gallery grouping.
Frames and Mirrors
Antique brass and silver frames and vanity mirrors work on their own or with a print of your own. Look for Victorian cherub frames and 800 silver easel mirrors. Frames are sold empty unless the listing says otherwise, so you can add a family photo or a small print of your own.
Many of these pieces also appear in our French antiques. Pair art with furniture mounts and vintage wall decor for a layered gallery wall.
Antique Art, Paintings & Portrait Miniatures FAQ
What is a portrait miniature?
A portrait miniature is a small, detailed painted portrait, often only a few inches tall, popular from the 16th to the 19th century. They were commonly given as keepsakes or tokens of affection before photography.
Are your paintings originals?
Yes. Our paintings and portrait miniatures are original hand painted works, not prints, unless the listing states it is a print or portfolio.
How should I care for antique paintings?
Hang them away from direct sunlight, heat sources and humidity. Dust frames gently with a soft dry brush and do not clean the painted surface yourself.
