Ornate antique Victorian-style figural picture frame with an elaborate openwork cast metal design and freestanding easel back - no glass.
Estimated late 19th to early 20th century (1900’s)
The frame features exceptionally detailed relief decoration throughout, including cherub/putti faces, scrolling foliage, floral motifs and dramatic figural creatures flanking the rectangular portrait opening. The elaborate pierced design and sculptural feet give the frame a strong Baroque/Rococo Revival appearance.
Finished in an aged warm brass/gold tone with natural variation and patina that beautifully emphasizes the raised details. The reverse retains its long decorative metal easel stand as well as the retaining tabs and backing.
A striking display piece for an antique photograph, portrait, cabinet card or miniature artwork, and beautiful enough to display empty as a decorative object.
Condition: Good antique/vintage condition with age-related patina, surface wear, discoloration and minor marks throughout. Easel remains functional. Please review all photographs closely for condition and construction.
