Striking vintage oversized commemorative medal/plaque featuring the iconic design of the 1928 St. Moritz Winter Olympic Games winner’s medal. The front depicts an Art Deco-style ice skater with outstretched arms surrounded by six snowflakes, while the reverse features the Olympic rings, laurel branches and raised inscription “II Jeux Olympiques d’Hiver St. Moritz 1928.”
Size: 3 and 1/8th” diameter
Finished in a warm bronze brass tone with beautifully aged patina and an integrated hanging loop at the top for wall display. The original 1928 Olympic medal design was created by Swiss artist Arnold Hünerwadel. This large-format example appears to have been produced as a commemorative/display piece rather than as an athlete’s competition medal.
