Stunning antique European wall-mounted pull bell featuring an exceptionally ornate cast brass/bronze backplate decorated with figural faces, scrolling foliage and pierced detailing. The bell retains its old mechanical spring, chain and clapper assembly and still rings beautifully.
Purchased from an antique market in the Netherlands. The piece displays wonderful naturally aged patina, oxidation and surface wear consistent with its age. Based on its construction and styling, it appears to date to the late 19th century, although its exact age and maker are unknown.
A beautiful piece of European architectural hardware, likely originally used as a door, house or servant call bell. Heavy and substantial with fantastic old-world character.
Condition: Antique condition with age-related patina, oxidation, wear and surface variation throughout. Mechanism remains functional and bell rings. Please review all photographs closely for condition. Back plate measures 5 inches in length.
