Vintage Speckled Ochre and Green Pottery Bud Vase with Handle

This small vintage pottery bud vase is shaped like a handled ewer, with a slender neck, a rounded base and a slim loop handle. The glaze is warm ochre with green flecks and soft yellow-green, leaf-like patches, so the color shifts as light moves across it.

The flared, slightly angled rim suits a single stem or a few dried flowers. Shown with dried lavender, the bud vase sits comfortably on a bookshelf, mantel, windowsill or small console. The unglazed foot ring reveals a tan clay body. An incised mark on the base is difficult to read with certainty (see below).

The piece appears to date to the 1960s and reflects the mid-century drip and speckle glaze style. It has a quiet, earthy look that suits a vintage or collected home.

Measurements and condition

• Material: glazed pottery
• Mark: incised mark on the base, unclear. It appears to include the letters USA, but the maker is unconfirmed.
• Condition: good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age.
• Flaws: light surface wear. The base has a few tiny kiln pin marks. There is a very small spot on the body just above the base that may be minor glaze loss, so please see the photos. No other chips, cracks or repairs are noted.
• Dried flowers in the photos are for styling and are not included.
