Beautiful antique/vintage brass blaker or chamberstick candle holder, sourced from an antique shop in the Netherlands.
Measuring approximately 7” in diameter, the piece features elaborate raised scrolling foliate decoration surrounded by concentric beaded borders, geometric motifs and individually punched floral details. The workmanship gives the piece a wonderfully primitive, old-world handcrafted appearance.
A cylindrical candle socket rises from the center of the broad brass drip tray, a form traditionally known in the Netherlands as a blaker. The brass has developed a rich naturally aged patina with areas of oxidation, darkening, surface wear and irregularities consistent with age and handmade construction.
A particularly decorative example that would display beautifully in a European antique, Dutch folk art, old-world, rustic, maximalist or collected interior.
